The Gjøvik region

Romerike borders Oppland in the north, and west of Norway’s largest lake, Mjøsa, is the Gjøvik region.

It is easy to travel here by both car and bus. It is 96km from Gardermoen to Gjøvik, and the airport bus departs from the airport and travels to the white town by the Mjøsa. By car, you can take a scenic journey along the Mjøsa through beautiful Totenvika and Kapp.

Gjøvik is a charming village with city qualities. If you enjoy shopping, you will find everything from small boutiques to large chain stores. Visit the world’s largest public hall in the mountains, built for the Olympic Winter Games in 1994, or the traditional glassworks. Did you know that we also have our own little chocolate factory in Gjøvik?

Along the banks of the Mjøsa and Randsfjord, towns, villages and extensive cultural landscapes have built up over the centuries. Welcome to a relaxed holiday zone rich in experiences, where the stable inland climate provides you with summers and winters as they should be.
